Came into the studio to freshen up the entrance walls with a coat of white paint. A good song came on so picked up a piece of charcoal and went all freehand on this wall. The process went as follows:
1. From freehand sketch to monochromatic underpainting.
2. Quick block out in oils. Creating a surface for a finishing overlay. Light prep for grazing and modelling.
3. Working out facial planes, adding colour underpaint. Too wet to model paint as it shifts due to surface. Canvas would be a different story
4. Day 4 cutting in, 2nd background coat.
5. Mural is complete and ready for a new and creative year at the studio/ school. “Caravaggio’s Judith” oil on wall. E.Mandalos
