The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize Semi-Finalists have been announced and Effie has made it through with her Ophelia painting of Kim Vega. Congrats Effie and can’t wait to see if you make it into the Finalists again this year.

About: The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize (DMNPP) was established by Doug and Greta Moran in 1988 as their family’s contribution to Australia’s Bicentenary Celebrations. Their purpose was to foster creativity and to encourage younger generations in the art of portraiture. The continued success of the Prize is demonstrated by the enthusiasm of the artists of all ages who have submitted some 1000 portraits in each of the last 5 years’ competitions. The entries and the 30 Finalists Exhibition reflect the diversity of contemporary styles and methods being used in this genre.

We encourage all students of the studio to enter these competitions. View the Semi-Finalist gallery here.
