This painting course will include instruction in basic colour theory, the principles of colour mixing, and the preparation of a surface on which artwork will be created. Students will be assigned projects that examine various oil painting techniques such as: under painting; wet on wet; fat on lean; direct painting; scumbling; dry brush; blending; glazing; impasto and painting with a palette knife. This painting course is suitable for beginners, however it is strongly advised that students have some drawing experience as drawing skills are essential to painting. This 8 week course is designed for students who are passionate in learning and furthering their skills in art making. The classes will provide students with the fundamentals in painting, drawing. Classes will explore a variety of mediums such as pencils; charcoal; markers; watercolour; gouache; oil paint and collage. Students will work from still life and portraiture by which they will learn to plan and compose finished art pieces. The course can be ongoing and provide a pathway into the schools Folio Preparation classes. Spaces are limited to 10 students per term allowing more one on one time. Please note that not all materials are not provided. A list of recommended materials will be sent to students on enrolment. The studio will provide A2 cartridge paper, and basic drawing materials. This ongoing art course for young people will focus on learning the fundamental aspects and principles of art making. This ongoing art course aims to provide a fun and friendly environment whilst exploring techniques of basic drawing and painting. Classes will also promote confidence and individual expression, and allow students to experiment with different mediums. Media used will include: pencil; charcoal and compressed charcoal; soft and hard dry pastel; oil pastel; pen and wash; ink; watercolour, acrylic and oil paints; collage and mixed media. An integral part of in this course is to assist students to develop and enhance their technical skills and understandings of the essential principles of art making. Students will receive individual support with projects they are currently working on as part of their school curriculum and/ or folio preparation needs. Alternatively, staff will also provide individual support and assign students projects according to their needs. The course will assist students to build folios in the following areas: Fashion, Animation, Graphic Design, Fine Art, Illustration, Architecture, Interior Design, Textiles, Art Teaching, and Cartooning.
