• This  ongoing  art course for young people will focus on learning the fundamental aspects and principles of art making. This ongoing art course aims to provide a fun and friendly environment whilst exploring techniques of basic drawing and painting. Classes will also promote confidence and individual expression, and allow students to experiment with different mediums. Media used will include: pencil; charcoal and compressed charcoal; soft and hard dry pastel; oil pastel; pen and wash; ink; watercolour, acrylic and oil paints; collage; mixed media; clay; and basic printing tools such as drypoint and mono printing. Some materials included Please note: Students are to bring an A5 and A2  Sketch Book (not ring bound), an A2 plastic folio, range of lead pencils, kneedable and hard eraser, 30cm ruler.

  • This 2 day Drawing intensive class is designed to assist those wishing to enhance their folio with large format drawing. Students will explore the design principles such as shape, space and perspective and compositional drawing, with initial A2 drawings and resulting in a final large format drawing. A life drawing model will be incorporated for 4 hours. The class is for any skill base and is aimed at those wishing to add to their folio or those wanting to get ahead in their drawing. The course fee includes high quality 600gsm AO watercolour paper . Students are  to bring willow charcoal and are welcome to bring along any other materials and paper if they have specific needs.

  • This drawing course consists of a combination of figure and still life classes. The course aims to assist participants, at beginners and intermediate levels, to develop observational and interpretive methods in drawing. Students will explore various processes of seeing. This class will also aim to develop students skills in the use of different media and techniques, and to develop their capacity to understand and control the chosen medium.     This painting course will include instruction in basic colour theory, the principles of colour mixing, and the preparation of a surface on which artwork will be created. Students will be assigned projects that examine various oil painting techniques such as: under painting; wet on wet; fat on lean; direct painting; scumbling; dry brush; blending; glazing; impasto and painting with a palette knife. This painting course is suitable for beginners, however it is strongly advised that students have some drawing experience as drawing skills are essential to painting.   • This painting class will explore various painting processes and techniques using a range of media such as, oil, acrylic, watercolour, mixed media, oil sticks, gouache and collage. Four sessions per term of this course will be "open studio" giving students the opportunity to paint what they like in any media. These sessions are designed to encouraging creative thinking. Students will work from observational studies such as: still life; figure(portrait); and en plein air. Suitable for both beginners to intermediate levels. Studio will be opened until 3:00pm on Tuesdays and students are encouraged to stay back to use the studios resources and continue painting. No extra charge.
